Sleeping Lady by Joy Hellman

This is pencil sketch of the "Sleeping Lady"probably a healer or a priestess acting as a channel for the Goddess. This was a process called dream incubation associated with the cults of healing. The most famous that of the healing God Asklepios at Epidauros

Seeker of Hidden Wisdom

I did this mandala by beginning one of the faces of the Goddesses that I paint on the center and as the focal point. I begin connecting the design in segmented shapes and attached her flowing hair to the ring of the circle. I used both colored pencil and markers to finish the mandala. I reflecting on the face,  It  reminds me of the Renaissance , magic, alchemy, a symbol in the Tarot. With the symbols around the circle, it seems to represent the Esoteric, occult or hidden wisdom. It also represents me as s seeker for I have been a spiritual seeker since I was 19 and worked as an intuitive counselor and channeled for many years. I have a love for the mystical and metaphysical study. It is is also significant in that I am a Sagittarius the seeker of hidden things.

Return of the Goddess of Wisdom

Forget about enlightenment.
Sit down wherever you are and listen to the wind that is singing in your veins.
Feel the love, the longing, and the fear in your bones.
Open your heart to who you are,
right now,...
not who you would like to be.
Not the saint you’re striving to become.
But the being right here before you,
inside you, around you.
All of you is holy.
You’re already more and less than whatever you can know.
Breathe out, look in, let go.

Face of Sophia Who Brings Wisdom to the Earth

I used simple line drawing with pen and ink and covering the inside of the circle with the symbols of flowers and the profile of a face. some of symbols were in my first mandalas. The profile is also in the  one that I call Solar Disc. they both  represent Goddess. As I reflected on the face it reminded me of Sophia Goddess of Wisdom.
She is the central pivot of creation and represents the feminine aspect in all things.
She is Wisdom Incarnate, the Goddess of all those who are wise.
Wisdom is a deep understanding and realizing of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time and energy. It is the ability to optimally (effectively and efficiently) apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results. Wisdom is also the comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action. Synonyms include: sagacity, discernment, or insight. Wisdom often requires control of one's emotional reactions (the "passions") so that one's principles, reason and knowledge prevail to determine one's actions.
